TOP 10 CRASH SITES IN BC’s LOWER MAINLAND

ICBC’s new data has identified the Top 10 Crash Sites in BC’s Lower Mainland.

It appears that Surrey residents and anyone that travels on Surrey Roads should take extra precaution, as the majority of the Top 10 crash sites are located in that jurisdiction.  Not a surprise when you consider Surrey is one of the fastest growing city in the Province, and one of the fastest growing cities in Canada.  In fact, Surrey is expected to become the largest city in B.C. by 2041 with more than 760,000 residents.  See article.

Here are the TOP 10 Crash Sites:

104 Ave. and 152 St., Surrey – 345 crashes

120 St. and 72 Ave., Surrey – 338

200 St offramp and Highway 1, Langley – 258

72 Ave. and King George Blvd., Surrey – 247

264 St. and Highway 1, Abbotsford – 236

Barnet Hwy. and Lougheed Hwy., Coquitlam – 233

Boundary Rd. and Grandview Hwy., Vancouver and Burnaby – 226

76 Ave. and King George Blvd., Surrey – 225

Marine Drive and Taylor Way, West Vancouver – 219

When you look at the data for Injured Victims, it appears that numbers have decreased in 2019 over years 2017 and 2018, perhaps due to escalating insurance charges.

In 2017, a total of 94,000 people were reported injured in BC.

In 2018, a total of 95,000 people were reported injured in BC.

In 2019, a total of 92,000 people were reported injured in BC.

ICBC statistics also report that the highest number of reported injuries in 2019 fall in the month of October, while in previous years it was the month of November.

Also, of the 92,000 reported injuries in 2019, 15,000 of those reported injuries fall within the age range of 26 to 35.
